Advancing the frontier of risk science.
We develop advanced AI capabilities to tackle risk across increasingly complex systems. From risk modelling and anomaly detection to privacy-preserving technologies and AI assurance, our work helps organisations identify emerging risks, quantify uncertainty and build greater resilience.
Trusted AI. Built in Oxford.
OXFIDA. A name rooted in place and trust.
OX stands for Oxford, one of the world’s leading centres of research, innovation and public policy, and the city where OXFIDA was founded.
FIDA comes from the Latin fidus and fida, meaning trustworthy and faithful, rooted in fides: trust. Trust underpins decisions in an uncertain world, and it is fundamental to how we build and apply AI.
Together, they form OXFIDA.
Three strengths. One frontier.
OXFIDA brings together three distinctive capabilities: world-class domain expertise drawn from Oxford’s wider research ecosystem, risk data at global scale from MS&AD, and an AI team with deep roots in Oxford’s technology ecosystem.
By combining deep expertise, real-world risk data and advanced AI, we build trusted technologies that advance the frontier of risk science.

Quantum optimisation
We explore the commercial potential of quantum computing for complex optimisation problems. Our work spans road maintenance, claims adjuster dispatch and warehouse location planning, where quantum approaches have shown potential to improve decisions and reduce cost. We continue to investigate where quantum computing can create practical value in real-world applications.

AI risk governance
Our AI risk governance programme develops practical, evidence-based approaches to identify, assess and manage emerging AI risks. We combine governance, technical assessment and continuous monitoring to evaluate risks, determine appropriate controls and track their effectiveness throughout the AI lifecycle. Our goal is to make AI risk measurable, controllable and ultimately transferable.

Anomaly detection
Our anomaly detection technologies identify unusual patterns that may signal fraud or emerging risk. We have deployed multiple fraud detection models across motor insurance, warranty and fire insurance in Japan and the UK. We are now developing models that go beyond individual claims to uncover hidden connections and fraud networks.

Privacy-preserving technologies for agentic AI
Our privacy-preserving technologies protect sensitive data during both training and inference in agentic AI systems. For example, we are contributing privacy-preserving technologies to a large-scale, publicly funded sovereign AI project developing secure, privacy-preserving agentic AI systems.

Flagship programmes
Through these programmes, OXFIDA applies distinctive technologies to real-world challenges, turning innovation into measurable impact at scale.
Advised by world-leading experts.
Our advisors bring expertise from some of the most advanced fields shaping the future of risk, including Bayesian AI, multi-agent systems, complexity economics and autonomous navigation. Their perspectives challenge our thinking, help us anticipate emerging risks and open new possibilities for how AI can be applied in the real world.
