Status
As of July 2026, the Pricing Engine is in production, currently pricing one live product across all 60 of the client's active dealerships. The client is targeting a rollout of two further products by the end of October, with final pricing structures still being confirmed on their side; the platform itself is ready to support them once those are locked in.
In parallel, the current delivery phase is nearing completion, with centralised tax-parameter management in design for the next phase.
Pricing changes without a developer
Summary
In six months live, this Pricing Engine has quietly powered over 500 policy sales of a leading connected-vehicle insurance product, across an entire 60-dealership network in Europe. Behind the scenes, it replaced a slow, developer-dependent pricing process with a self-serve platform that lets Pricing Managers build, test, and launch pricing changes more dynamically and on their own terms — no code, no queue, no waiting on a development sprint.
The next phase will see the rollout of further products from the suite. The engine is built by people who understand insurance contracts and it's the difference between a pricing system the business waits on, and one the business controls.
The problem
Under the client's legacy setup, every pricing change — a new product, a rate adjustment, a regulatory or tax update — meant a developer hand-coding formulas from a spreadsheet into the dealership-facing system. Pricing Managers could not test or release changes themselves, and pricing ownership sat awkwardly between business and technical teams. That meant slower delivery of pricing and product changes, releases that were hard to test with confidence, and governance that varied from one change to the next. Changes to pricing or reaction to risk simply took longer to reach the market.
Solution
The Pricing Engine is a configurable, rules-based platform built so that pricing logic lives in configuration rather than code. Pricing Managers use it to define products and coverage, maintain pricing parameters and risk adjustments, model formulas, and manage each product's lifecycle from draft to release. Because logic sits outside the application code and is not back-end dependent, it adapts to different distribution channels — dealership, direct, broker, aggregator — without a rebuild for each one and works as readily outside motor insurance as within it. In this case, dealership staff use a single front-end system without needing to know which pricing system sits behind it; selecting the connected-vehicle product simply routes the quote through the Pricing Engine.
The platform also connects to connected-vehicle and location-risk data, bringing in usage-based pricing that rewards lower-risk driving. Human judgement stays central: the engine executes the calculations, but pricing teams design, test, and approve every change.
